Tests

Averaging more than 5,000 cardiac diagnostic imaging tests per year, the cardiogists at Universal Cardiac Solutions provide accurate and early identification of cardiovascular disease. They are board certified in cardiovascular disease and nuclear cardiology and offer a wide range of services including remote reading and interpretation. Services include:

  • Non Invasive & Invasive

    • Abdominal Ultrasound- uses reflected sound waves to produce a picture of certain organs and other structures in the upper abdomen like the aorta. Helps in detecting and measuring aneurysm.

    • Carotid Ultrasound - is most frequently performed to detect blockage or narrowing of their carotid arteries, or stenosis, of the carotid artery, a condition that substantially increases the risk of stroke.

    • Computed Tomography Angiography (CTA) – helps in the diagnosis of blocked arteries of patients with high risk of developing CHD as well as patients with low risk of CHD but  with unusual symptoms.  Also, it can      indicate and detect arterial stenosis and calcium deposits.

    • Coronary Cardiac Catheterizationusually done to detect the presence and extent of atherosclerosis in coronary arteries by creating x-ray images of the heart’s blood vessels. It is done through the use of flexible tube called a catheter that is put into a blood vessel in the arm, groin (upper thigh), or neck and threaded to the heart along with the use of a special dye.

    • Echocardiogram is mainly used to detect and assess blocked coronary arteries, cardiomyopathy,  congenital heart defects, pericardial disease, heart attack damage, etc.

    • Electrocardiography (EKG) - is the recording of the electrical activity of the heart over time via skin electrodeshelps in evaluation of arrhythmias, chest pain, myocardial infarction, etc.

    • Event Monitor - is a device used to monitor patients with transient cardiac symptoms. It is done to detect abnormal heart rhythms by recording the heart's electrical activity (rhythm) at the push of a button.

    • Holter used as a screening tool in the evaluation of patients with symptoms of various forms of heart disease such as palpitations, etc. Helps in ruling out cardiac causes for some of the symptoms, fainting, lightheadedness, etc.

    • Illiac Ultrsound - is usually done for the evaulation of iliac disease and its imact on blood flow dynamics by uing ultrasound duplex technology.

    • Lower Arterial Ultrasound - Arterial duplex imaging provides direct anatomic and physiologic information. It distinguishes between a stenosis and an occlusion, determines the length of the disease segment and patency of the distal vessels, evaluates the results of intervention (angioplasty, stent placement), diagnoses aneurysms and pseudoaneurysms, and monitors a patient's postoperative course with continuing bypass graft surveillance.

    • Microvolt T-Wave - helps in identifying if patient is at risk of life threatening heart rhythm disturbances that could lead to sudden cardiac death. This test has comparable accuracy to the electrophysiology (EP) test.

    • Nuclear Stress Test - is one of the most commonly performed diagnostic heart tests done to detect CHD also referred to as a myocardial perfusion. It helps in identifying which parts of the heart muscle are not receiving enough blood.

Renal Ultrasound - usually done on patients with renovascular hypertension and helps in detecting renal artery stenosis.

    • Stress Echocardiograpy/Doubutamuine Stress Echocardiography - detects stress induced blood flow defects and confirms and identifies coronary heart disease, Ischemia, septal defects, diseased heart valves,  results of PTCA, etc.

    • Stress Tests - detects heart rhythm abnormalities and locate areas of heart that receive insufficient supply of oxygen and blood.

    • Transesophageal Echocardiography (TEE) - is usually done to detect blood clots, heart infection, congenitalital abnormalities, heart valve malfunction, disease of the aorta.
